Friday July 11th AND a MEETING

Hello Everyone,

Today was a very light day when it came to the number of people on the courts.  We had only about 9 players using 2 courts.  The weather was great with cloudy skies and light winds.  The last game saw Corrina and I taking on Tim and Richard.  While C & P brought their B+ game (Corrina was an A, I was a B) the two lads on the other side of the net got really, really lucky and took us down by  a score of 11 to 4.  Although, I must say they did make a few impressive shots.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is cancelled, the MTA Students Union is holding the Shinerama Tournament in aid of cystic fibrosis.  We play again on Monday evening at 6pm

I would like to make another comment regarding the recent Posts that I made concerning the play in the MTA gym.  Hindsight is a wonderful thing.  I should have had a discussion with the other committee members regarding my concerns.  This could have led to a better approach in addressing the issue I brought up.  I have had talks with a number of people since and as a result the committee is having a meeting this coming Tuesday to try to find a solution that addresses both sides of this issue.  I do feel very strongly  about the concern that I had raised but looking back my approach was not the best.  My intentions are always for the good of the whole group and any potential split doesn’t sit well with me – hopefully everyone understands this.  To those who are troubled as a result, on either side of this issue, I am sorry.  This needs to be resolved and I am sure we can accomplish this together.

To this end, the committee (Frank, Heather, Magi, Paul) will meet on Tuesday.  We would appreciate any input that anyone has (suggestions, criticisms, comments) for us to discuss at this meeting.  Please pass your info along to either of us via email, telephone, or voice ASAP.  The main objective is for us to come up with a solution that both has everyone playing together AND provides opportunities for the advanced/competitive players to get the games they need to improve their skills.  There is a good answer out there, we just have to find it.  I hope that we can all come together and continue growing our pickleball family.

Take care,

Paul
