We made an oversight, so now we have one more time for Pickleball before the Christmas Holidays!

Pickleball - Mt A - Friday, Dec 19th, 2025
It was great to see people back at the gym on Friday to play after a two week hiatus to allow for student exams. We had all six courts on the go and a couple of players waiting to keep the rotations going smoothly. With little time to sit, I wasn’t able to catch any of the games scores but I can tell fun was being had by all. We have such a great crew of people! Our last play time before the holidays is Tues, Dec 23rd and we hope to see you all there! Heather Estabrooks.

Pickleball Mt A Dec 4, 2025
Another morning with all six courts active and players on the sidelines waiting to play. There were lots of competitive matches and a couple where the score didn’t reflect the level of play. Whatever the score, it was great to see the smiles and camaraderie among all. Some keeners stayed until after 1 pm to finish that “one last game” that had lots of back and forth with a final score of 13-11. As Frank would say … pickle on! A reminder that there is no pickleball at Mount A

Pickleball Mt A Dec 2, 2025
It was a busy morning of pickleball this morning with 26 players keeping all six courts active. We were happy to welcome four new faces to the usual crowd. Hope to see you again soon!!! Today’s play saw some paddles flying in the air and on more than one occasion very committed players getting a close up of the floor as they dove to keep the rally going. Kirk brought his A game today, sneaking a few great line shots in. There were lots of close scoring games and amazing gets.

Mon, Dec 1 - Salem Gym
All three courts were in use for the evening beginning at 8PM. A total of 17 players were out. Nice to see and play with Nero, Kirk, Allen, Imrah, Corrina, Ben, Fred, Betty-Jo, Pam, Geoff, Thomas, and others. This was a perfect number of players in my opinion for the three courts and space available in the gym. Nonetheless, balls were zipping around from court to court as occasionally someone misfired :) Early in the evening we were switching out four players after each game.

FRIDAY 28 NOVEMBER 2025 SUMMARY – QUOTABLE SPORTS QUOTES EDITION American Thanksgiving has colonized our lives. Black Friday, the Friday before Black Friday, travel challenges, pardoned turkeys, Thirsty Thursday, Sappy Saturday. Okay, some of that I made up. But Canadian retailers seem to think that this is yet another opportunity to push their trinkets our way, with discounts and door crashers and incentives of all kinds. I resent all this Americanization of the Canadian

THURSDAY 27 NOVEMBER 2025 SUMMARY – YOGI BERRA EDITION As many of you will remember, Yogi Berra was one of the best baseball players of his era, but he was probably better known for the quirky way he used the English language. Some of the best known oddities in the language were delivered by Yogi. But was he really a doofus who couldn’t keep a thought straight, or did he deliver his lines with a wink and a smile and his fingers crossed behind his back? Lop-sided logic, or

MTA Parking is becoming a pay-to-play item!
Another update relevant to play at MTA gym. Beginning in January 2026, parking fees will be charged for use of the university lots, basically $2/hr or a monthly ($32.50) or annual pass will be required. See https://mta.ca/parking for details. We will update members on this soon as this change will impact the cost and also convenience of indoor play at the MTA gym's 6 courts. So please adjust accordingly. We would hate to hear about people getting parking tickets.

Wed, Nov. 26th - Salem Gym
There were 13 dedicated players out last night, compared to the 28+ players that were out on Mon evening. Nice to see new players out, like Thomas and the Troung family. Three courts were used from 8 to 10 PM. Play through each court cycled quickly, with little time for rest. For example, you would sit down for a brief rest and then another court would end their game and ask you to join. Memorable games for me were had against Saeed and Christian, two of our group's more comp

Tueday, Nov. 25th - MTA Gym (logan)
TANTRAMAR PICKLEBALL TUESDAY 25 NOVEMBER 2025 SUMMARY – STOMPIN’ TOM CONNORS EDITION By all accounts, pickleball is flourishing on Prince Edward Island. There are courts all over the place, from Cornwall to Kensington, Brackley Beach to Charlottetown and Morell. And all points in between, as they say. This summer just past, I had the opportunity to visit the Stompin’ Tom Connors Museum in Skinner’s Pond. And, much to my surprise, there wasn’t a mention of pickleball anywhere.

TANTRAMAR PICKLEBALL FRIDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2025 SUMMARY – SEPTUAGENARIAN EDITION How many sports are there in which a team of 70 somethings can stand toe-to-toe with a team of millennials and, hey, the outcome is in doubt? Well, not many. Which is one of the brilliant things about our game – it is truly cross-generational! And I think that the expression “toe-to-toe” may have been created with the invention of pickleball in mind! Have you ever stood with your partner at the kitc

Thursday morning, Nov. 20th - MTA Gym
Hi Pickleballers, Trying to improve on Logan's Tuesday update is an impossible task, so I won't even try to be as literary has he was. Today there were 21 players using 5 courts. Playing constantly was almost a given. I played 5 games. Lost the first 4 and won the last 11 to 8 with Frank as my partner. Lots of regulars attended: Pam, Mona and Kirk, Jocelyn, Frank, Kelly, Brent, Debbie, Pamela, etc. Jocelyn played so well, that she wouldn't tell me her scores. Well done I g

Tuesday morning (Logan's report) , Nov. 18th - MTA Gym
Hi Pickleballers, TANTRAMAR PICKLEBALL SUMMARY “It was the best of times…” Well, not the very very best best. But hey, pretty good! At our peak, we had six courts in operation with four players waiting. Not bad, not bad. Antoine Dubois (aka Tony Wood) gave us a quick lesson in the translation of names, after which I insisted on being called Lhogan MacAtkinson. No one seemed to care. But it gave the morning a bit of old world charm, if only for me. Games were fast, spirited an

Tuesday morning, Nov. 18th - MTA Gym
Hi Pickleballers, We started off with four courts at 9:00 which grew to all six courts set up and being used before 10:00 then reduced to four, and three courts were busy right up to 12:00, and when most of us were leaving Lisa and Charlene were battling it out with Steve and Dan... a little family competition??? There were a few of our regulars missing, so with six courts full speaks volumes for the popularity of this game! I wanted to post a short recap because of a great

Friday 1pm-3pm, Nov. 14th - MTA Gym
Hi Pickleballers, So after more than 4 weeks away (due to a nasty virus), Magi was back on the courts to find 28 players filling all 6 courts! It was certainly great to have her back. It was a lovely afternoon. There were many players that we didn’t recognize and some, like Allen, that I hadn’t seen since the start of the summer. It is great to see new players. I checked in with a few people, but nobody played an overtime game, all the contests seemed to be fairly even. I
