Today was snow day and Salem was closed, so pickleball was also canceled. Tim Hicks

Pickleball - Mt A - Thursday, Jan 22nd, 2026
This morning we had 14 players who braved the snowy roads to play pickle ball. It was great to have Eldon join us today. We’ve missed you! There were lots of great plays made today with several perfect line shots as well as lobs to the back of the court standing out. Several games were very close, and a few going into “overtime” to decide the winners. No matter the score, everyone was having fun and getting lots of exercise. Thanks, Heather Estabrooks

Pickleball - Salem - Wed, Jan 21th, 2026
Tonight we had 14 players out to enjoy pickle ball. We were missing a few regulars but also enjoyed having some newer players out. Fun was had by all! There were some great plays made throughout the night and some very close games. Play wrapped up around 10pm. Thanks, Heather Estabrooks

Pickleball - MTA - Fri, Jan 16th, 2026
Today we had 4 courts on the go with some really competitive games. One thing was obvious today, the level of play continues to grow among all our players. While the gym was fully booked for 3pm, we were fortunate that half of it remained unclaimed and enabled us to continue play until 3:45pm. Heather Estabrooks

Pickleball - MTA - Thurs, Jan 15th, 2026
Today we had over 20 players out. We had lots of rotation happening on the 5 courts. It was great to have Rahil out playing again and showing her time away from the game hasn’t impacted her play at all. Welcome back Rahil! With little time to sit and watch, it was difficult to see what was happening in each game so unfortunately I can’t provide much detail there. The one thing that stood out though was the camaraderie / friendships that have grown through our playing together

Pickleball - Mt A - Friday, Jan 9th, 2026
Today we had 24 players out, keeping all 6 courts active. It must have been the spring like temps that brought out some banter between courts, resulting in smiles and laughter across the gym. There were a couple of games where it looked like there might be a lop-sided win in the works. However, in the true spirit of the game, the team that was down came back strong to either win the game or to force “OT”. Whatever the score, it was obvious everyone was having fun and making

Pickleball - Mt A - Thursday, Jan 8th, 2026
Jan 8th - Mt A Pickle Ball There were 5 active courts on the go with 23 players out in total. We suspect road conditions hindered a few of our regulars from being there so please know you were missed and we hope to see you soon. It’s been great to see Paul V out playing again. He hasn’t lost his pickleball shot touch! Pickleball has to be one of the few sports where, despite the competitive nature of the game, there is laughter and cheering of good shots by your opponents. Pickleball - Mt A - Tuesday, Jan 6th, 2026
Happy New “Pickle Ball” Year everyone! Today we had 38 players out to start the year off strong. We had several familiar faces and some new faces as well. While we had the gym booked for two hours (9 to 11), due to gym availability there were several of us who played into the lunch hour. One of the common themes in conversation today was everyone’s excitement to be back on the courts. While some of us might have sampled a few too many sweets over the break, it didn’t seem to

Pickleball - Update on Session Times and Fees
The pickleball committee thanks everyone who completed the survey which we recently distributed. Your input was extremely valuable to our decision making and helped us secure a new agreement with the town. We can now confirm that our sessions at Mt A will be 2 hours each starting January 6th, with Tuesday and Thursday starting at 9am and Friday’s start remaining at 1pm. As well, the drop-in cost per session will increase to $5. This increase in cost is the result of Mt A no l

Pickleball - Mt A - Friday, Dec 19th, 2025
It was great to see people back at the gym on Friday to play after a two week hiatus to allow for student exams. We had all six courts on the go and a couple of players waiting to keep the rotations going smoothly. With little time to sit, I wasn’t able to catch any of the games scores but I can tell fun was being had by all. We have such a great crew of people! Our last play time before the holidays is Tues, Dec 23rd and we hope to see you all there! Heather Estabrooks.

Pickleball Mt A Dec 4, 2025
Another morning with all six courts active and players on the sidelines waiting to play. There were lots of competitive matches and a couple where the score didn’t reflect the level of play. Whatever the score, it was great to see the smiles and camaraderie among all. Some keeners stayed until after 1 pm to finish that “one last game” that had lots of back and forth with a final score of 13-11. As Frank would say … pickle on! A reminder that there is no pickleball at Mount A

Pickleball Mt A Dec 2, 2025
It was a busy morning of pickleball this morning with 26 players keeping all six courts active. We were happy to welcome four new faces to the usual crowd. Hope to see you again soon!!! Today’s play saw some paddles flying in the air and on more than one occasion very committed players getting a close up of the floor as they dove to keep the rally going. Kirk brought his A game today, sneaking a few great line shots in. There were lots of close scoring games and amazing gets.

Mon, Dec 1 - Salem Gym
All three courts were in use for the evening beginning at 8PM. A total of 17 players were out. Nice to see and play with Nero, Kirk, Allen, Imrah, Corrina, Ben, Fred, Betty-Jo, Pam, Geoff, Thomas, and others. This was a perfect number of players in my opinion for the three courts and space available in the gym. Nonetheless, balls were zipping around from court to court as occasionally someone misfired :) Early in the evening we were switching out four players after each game.

Friday Nov 28, at MTA, TANTRAMAR PICKLEBALL
FRIDAY 28 NOVEMBER 2025 SUMMARY – QUOTABLE SPORTS QUOTES EDITION American Thanksgiving has colonized our lives. Black Friday, the Friday before Black Friday, travel challenges, pardoned turkeys, Thirsty Thursday, Sappy Saturday. Okay, some of that I made up. But Canadian retailers seem to think that this is yet another opportunity to push their trinkets our way, with discounts and door crashers and incentives of all kinds. I resent all this Americanization of the Canadian

THURSDAY 27 NOVEMBER 2025 SUMMARY – YOGI BERRA EDITION As many of you will remember, Yogi Berra was one of the best baseball players of his era, but he was probably better known for the quirky way he used the English language. Some of the best known oddities in the language were delivered by Yogi. But was he really a doofus who couldn’t keep a thought straight, or did he deliver his lines with a wink and a smile and his fingers crossed behind his back? Lop-sided logic, or
