Mon, Dec 1 - Salem Gym

All three courts were in use for the evening beginning at 8PM. A total of 17 players were out. Nice to see and play with Nero, Kirk, Allen, Imrah, Corrina, Ben, Fred, Betty-Jo, Pam, Geoff, Thomas, and others. This was a perfect number of players in my opinion for the three courts and space available in the gym. Nonetheless, balls were zipping around from court to court as occasionally someone misfired :) Early in the evening we were switching out four players after each game. We then decided to have winners split and then rotate two new players in. I'm not sure if there is a good rule as to when we go from 2 to 4 player switch outs??? At 20+ players then we should consider switching out four at a time.

What does work to organize efficient play is stacking paddles. Do this on the bench at Salem or rack at the MTA gym. Stacking helps keeps track of who is up next to play. We encourage players to stack your paddle after each game to facilitate organized rotation. If fewer players are out then stack paddles in groups of two. If more players are out then stack in groups of four. Once play is done simply pull paddles from top to bottom, left to right groups, depending on how many players are needed. Assuming winners split, after you've played two games in a row we suggest it's time for a break to let other players use the courts. Hope this helps.
