Thursday morning, September 25th - MTA Gym

Hi all

First of all, report from Saeed on Wednesday evening play at Salem: "Hi Frank, On Wednesday, 11 players showed up at Salem School. We set up three courts, but play was only happening on two of them, with practice on the other court. I had a chance to play against Susan, and it was great to see how she came back to the game with such good play. The last game was played by Agnes and Rahil against Lisa and Josh. That was a very tough game that ended 14 to 12 in favor of Lisa and Josh. All the best, Saeed"

Also to report on the outdoor courts: I was not there but was walking through town and heard play still going on. The outdoor nets are still up and people are still using them.

For our first morning back at the Mount A gym saw four courts being set up and busy from shortly after 9:00 when we did get set up until shortly after 11:00 when play reduced to two courts until almost 12:00... The first game back in the gym saw Debbie and Eudora versus Kelly and Pamela. We are not sure exactly how and why the nets had the upright bars in the wrong place but this was quickly taken apart and the correct bars were put into place. Remember when taking the nets down the bars stay in the nets for storage... There were so many people helping out, it took very little time to get this done..

Pam did take one of the rubber caps for the top of the net poles to find more, so that the top of these bars would all have rubber caps... Thanks Pam.

Also, remember to put your toonie in the bottle for play. This is probably going to change, but that is all that is being collected until further notice. THANKS Pam for looking after this...

Mid morning saw a battle of the sexes when Monique and Jocelyne outlasted Chris and Alyre 14-12... Speaking for the guys, there has to be a rematch???

It was great to have Sherman back and also Brent who showed up really late... But most of the regulars were there!

The last game saw Pam and I outlasting Kelly and Monique 11-7...

Members of our group are playing this weekend in the Atlantics in Bedford, NS. Debbie & Clarence and Larry & Eudora are registered for mixed play and Debbie and Eudora are registered for Ladies... Good luck and have fun!

There was a paddle left with the initials DM - probably Don MacIntyre? - It has been put in the pickleball bag in the equipment room...

Next play will be tomorrow at the Mount A gym at 1:00, and checking the gym schedule Volleyball is not scheduled until 4:00, so we might be able to play past 3:00...but remember, we have a good thing going here and try not to outlast our welcome...

Play is also available on Saturday morning at 9:00 at the outdoor courts...

ALSO, a heads up about the Mount A gym being closed next Tuesday, September 30 for Truth and Reconciliation Day - so play will be at the outdoor courts, weather permitting...
