Our Tournament of April 27th

Hi All,

Well, what can we say?  Today was a fabulous day with sixty-eight games played from 9:45am until 4pm with a lunch break in between.  The format was well received by everyone and things went off extremely well.  A great big thanks goes out to all players for their enthusiasm and cooperation throughout the whole event.  We had several visitors during the day, some were regular players not in the tournament, while other interested folks came by to enjoy the excitement.  Bruno had a full entourage cheering him on, and Kelly’s friend, Anna Mann watched and enjoyed it so much that I think we will have another lady join our group – Anna – welcome aboard!

We had seven volunteers helping out – Debbie and Magi kept things in order and flowing smoothly on the floor, Agnes was our Photographer (pictures are on the website in a separate section in the Album Folder, here's the link to the page ), Allen, Christie-Anne,  Derrick and Corinna helped out on door control and ball retrieval, etc.  Allen also subbed in for one game.  A great big thanks to you all.

Brian graciously provided Strawberry Cheesecake for everyone to enjoy – it was  delicious and didn’t last long, thank you Brian.

Jack donated two handmade wooden Aztec figures which were presented to Monique and Kirk who were recognized as having too much fun during the day.  Thank you, Jack.

We also crowned our “King and Queen of the Courts” for having earned the most points for a lady and a gentleman – the honors went to Jack and Kelly!

The play-off games were outstanding!  The two games were played to a score of fifteen (winning by two points or more) and were refereed by an amazing ref that was hired from God only knows where.

The first game was for the Bronze Medals and put Fred and Jill up against Brian and Catherine.  It was a great battle with Fred and Jill coming out on top 15 to 7 .  Great job folks!

The last game was for Gold and Silver and you could tell they all wanted the first point sooo bad, it took several side changes before the first point was recorded.  It was a very hard-fought battle with everyone giving their all.  The final score was 16 to 14, with the Gold going to Frank and Leor, and the Silver going to Bruno and Jack – way to go guys!

In our books, we had twenty-four Gold Medalists on the courts today – We are so very happy that the event went without a hitch.  Remember that any constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated.  This can only help for any future endeavors.

Thanks again to EVERYONE!

Brent, Logan, & Paul

PS:  Someone left a pair of protective glasses behind today.  Paul has them.

What a wonderful day. A truly joyful experience to watch all the players doing something they love to do with their pickleball friends. The event was so well planned with so much care taken to ensure things ran smoothly. A big congratulations and thank you to the organizing committee for all the hard work and energy they put into this inaugural event. Much appreciated! Debbie
