Saturday morning, August 30th - Outdoor Courts

Updated: Sep 3

Hi All,

Frank is a hard act to follow, his write-ups are great and the pictures add a nice touch.  I have not been playing for a while so along with my play on the courts this write-up is also a bit weak – too bad!

We had about 17 folks on the courts from 9am until about 11:30am under sunny skies and calm winds.  The park was quite busy with Labor Day festivities and Mount A students back on campus.  Frank wasn’t able to be on the courts today – he was in quite a bit of hot water, and it was Dianne’s fault.  He was involved in the Rotary’s Corn Boil in the park for the MTA students – happy wife, happy life!

We had 4 courts active for a while until the heat sent some players home.  Magi was accompanied by her brother Sandy (Alexander) from Ontario who has been visiting for a couple of weeks.  He watched his sister’s awesome performance for a while before they headed on out to the market. And I found out today that we missed Magi's birthday yesterday - sorry Magi, we didn't know so HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! (better late than never).

One game pitted Terry and Pam against Agnes and Melissa.  A & M made a great team defeating T & P 11 to 3 .  Another game saw Steve and I take on two young fellas, Fred and Chris.  We started out well with a lead of 5 to 0, then we fell asleep (it was time for our seniors’ nap).  They didn’t let up at all and went on to an 11 to 5 victory – I hope they feel proud of themselves.  Anyway we did have some great rallies.

We  play again on Monday evening at 6pm and then Tuesday morning at 9am.  We have requested the Town to confirm our Fall/Winter schedule for the MTA and Salem gyms, no word yet but should hear this week.

Take care,

Paul
