Thursday morning, June 19th @ MTA Gym

Hi All,

First:  Pickleball for Friday (June 20th ) is moved to the outdoor courts.  The MTA gym session has been cancelled by the university for another event.

We had about 18 players on four courts today.  This is my second day back from a long time away and it’s great to play with you all again – thanks for being a bit gentle with me, I’m sure that won’t last long.  Partway through our session Pam strained her left hip and had to sit out for the rest of the day – she is a bit better now, but she’ll have to wait until Friday morning to decide about playing tomorrow.

There were two young guys out with us today, Ethan and Aiden joined in and really seemed to enjoy the play.  Everyone was giving them some pointers as they were learning the game and they progressed very well  and will be a big challenge in no time.

Mona and I took on Steve L and Monique.  The score was going our way until Monique ran up 5 straight points on her serve to tie the game at 9’s. Then it was back and forth with many great rallies and the final ended with our opponents coming out on top 15 to 13 – darn Monique and her new paddle (Steve played great too!).  The last game pitted Steve B and Pamela against Debbie and me.  Actually, we had two games, but S & P didn’t want the 1st game mentioned so I won’t report on the 11 to “somewhat less (0) for that game.  The last game was closer, but the dynamic duo of D & P pulled off another decisive win – the actual score didn’t matter, we all had lots of fun!

Outdoor courts tomorrow – weather permitting.  For the rest of the summer we will be playing on the outdoor courts, keep checking the website NEWS and CALENDAR for the latest information.
