Hi All,
We had 30 players out today with 5 nets set up this morning starting at 9:00 at the MTA Gym, so we set up the Pickleball rotator rack. With so many players out we probably should have changed the games to 9 points, but what I saw was that so many people were enjoying much conversation! It was great to see a number of players who have not been able to get out! The winner for the player who travelled the farthest was Anna Crossman, who is home from her studies in British Columbia! I didnt get to play with her, as well as a lot of other players because of the numbers, but that is great! We welcomed Susan, Pamela, Charlene's husband Steve, Jill, Josh, Jack and Christiana back to the group.
After about one game we had a short presentation from our leader, Paul... He covered so many good points! First, and foremost give yourselves a pat on the back, the play and comradery is second to none! Paul covered that he will schedule a work party to give the outdoor courts a cleaning, and when I signed the sheet I saw that the number of volunteers putting their name down was onto a second page! Sounds like we might have many hands making light work! Also, the possibility of another tournament like we had last year needs volunteers, with Magi possibly leading the charge... We will get the word out asap about the interest shown today... Then, Paul shared with us about a special pickleballer, Christiana who had recently had a milestone birthday, 59???, so being the special group we are, the Birthday song was sung as only we could sing...
In one of the last games of the day saw Pamela and myself battling Jocelyne and Kirk, with rallies and scores going back and forth, ultimately squeaking out the victory.
Next play is scheduled for Wednesday evening at Salem and then back again at the Mount A gym on Thursday morning... Pickle on!
Frank
