Tuesday morning, July 22nd - Outdoor Courts

Updated: Aug 1

Hi All,

We had about 17 players on the courts today from 9am until noon.  We used the four courts for a while with Court D assigned to Competitive Play games.  This was our 1st trial day using  Court D as Competitive Play Only with the other 3 courts used for Recreational Play.  This setup is for a Trial Period to see if it will work  to provide everyone with both Recreational  and Competitive game opportunities.  Based on the reaction of some folks, I think that this needs a little more clarification.  Here Goes ……….

Our (your committee) intention is to give EVERYBODY the chance to play the type of play he/she would like.  So to clarify: Competitive and Recreational does not indicate anyone’s skill level but rather the type of play to be expected.  Everyone is competitive when he/she steps onto the court – everyone likes to win, but not everyone is comfortable with hard fought “no holes barred” type of play where the players play as hard as they can regardless of who their opponents are.  This is what Court D is reserved for.  Anyone who wants that kind of game is welcome to play on Court DAnd likewise, anyone playing on Court D is always welcome to play on the other courts.  The difference is that all players on the Recreational courts need to take into consideration their opponents’ type of play.  Clear as mud!  Please remember that this is a TRIAL that your Fabulous and Wonderful Committee is trying out to help everyone enjoy our time together.  Hopefully, this provides some clarification of our intentions, so give it a chance and we’ll adjust as necessary.

On another note, as most probably know already, Pamela broke a bone in her hand a little while ago and needed surgery.  All went well and she now has a period of recovery before we see her back on the courts.  She has gone to Saskatoon  for her son’s wedding; we wish her well and a speedy recovery – safe travels Pamela.

The last game pitted Frank and Elden against Fred and Bruno.  It was hard fought and was tied at 8 to 8 until Fred and Bruno managed an 11 to 9 victory.

That’s it for now, we play again Wednesday evening at 6pm. See you there!

Take care,

Paul
