Hi All,
Well, today was a little different. We had about 29 people on the courts today and played from 1pm until 3:30pm. The only problem is that we could only set up 3 courts on the back half of the gym. The front half was closed because some repair was needed for one of the floorboards in the front half of the gym. We played to 9 instead of eleven and used the paddle holder to track the playing order. There are 15 slots in the holder, and we used all of them. Play advanced quickly and no one had to sit too long – there was some time for chatting which is always OK with our bunch of social folks, even our young friends seemed to enjoy both the playing time and the bit of chit-chat on the bench.
We were allowed to play beyond our scheduled time but had to shut down at 3:30pm when a group of basketball players needed the gym space, and they too were restricted to half of the gym. Regardless, everyone seemed to enjoy the play time, and we were lucky that the whole gym wasn't closed. It looks like we have a few new young people loving the game – and that's great, and we hope the sport continues to grow.
Frank got everyone's attention to inform us of a special birthday just around the corner. We all sang Happy Birthday to my best buddy as she is about to turn ?? years old.
That's it for today, we play again on Monday evening at Salem and then Tuesday morning at MTA.
Take care,
Paul
